This blog post is part of a series where I chronicle my advancement through WGU’s Bachelor of Science, Business – Information Technology Management degree. It includes detailed reports on my study methods and strategies as well as occasional tips and tricks. Much like Organizational Behavior, this was a subject that I was already well familiar with. In fact, I was probably more familiar with Business Ethics than Org Behavior by a fair margin. As a result, I flew through this class in just two days.
Day 1:
- Watched the prep video for task one,
- Noted the units mentioned,
- Reviewed unfamiliar topics in the textbook, using the units from step 2 as my guide,
- Watched some YouTube videos on topics I still needed help with
- Downloaded the Template for Task 1,
- Wrote and submitted Task 1
Day 2:
- Watched the prep video for task one,
- Noted the units mentioned,
- Reviewed unfamiliar topics in the textbook, using the units from step 2 as my guide,
- Watched some YouTube videos on topics I still needed help with
- Downloaded the Template for Task 2,
- Wrote and submitted Task 2
A Note on Task 1:
For some reason there’s not a lot of direction for Task 1. You have to write some policies, and there’s not really a statement anywhere that says if it needs to be in a certain format. The best advice? Use the template and write the policies.
Here’s an example of a policy. The situation is that clowns in a circus are using battery acid in their water-bow-ties instead of water, and people are getting hurt:
“Clowns will refrain from using battery acid, or any other harmful substance, in their water-bow-ties and instead will use only water. By so doing, the Circus will regain the trust of the local community and avoid potential lawsuits that could result from injury.”
And, to be honest, that example is probably a bit overkill. Keep is simple: that is, state (1) “here’s what to do differently”, and (2) “here’s why”.
